Since the game allows you to roam freely after the main story has been completed, there is no real rush or requirement to unlock 100% of the trophies before concluding the story. The only thing preventing progression in regards to side missions are the required skills unlocked through playing the main story, and the second area (Nurn) as well. Due to the game's sandbox design, you are free to roam anywhere within the map you are on without restrictions or invisible walls of any kind. The main story can be completed in as little as 5 to 7 hours, but will take about 10-15 on average. The game consists of 20 main story missions, 30 combat oriented side missions, 74 collectibles (all of which are thankfully visible on the world map), and 24 rescue missions. You will gain many new abilities along the way which will help you achieve just that, as well as the tools needed to enjoy the Mordor sandbox to the fullest. The main goal is simple: Become stronger by completing missions and discovering treasures in order to kill The Black Hand and his followers. The gameplay itself consists of primarily third person hack and slash combat, with a spattering of stealth gameplay, mounted combat, and even some semi-first person shooting elements with a bow and arrow. Along the way Talion will assist various other humans he comes across but his main goal is retribution. The majority of the game consists of destroying the leadership that makes up Sauron’s army in an attempt to eventually reach the masterminds behind his own undoing. Along the way he is aided by a mysterious Wraith that grants him immense power. Sadly, a great tragedy befalls him and he is cursed by the minions of Sauron, forcing him to seek out revenge. The game places you in control of Talion, a Gondorian Ranger tasked with guarding The Black Gate. Once this mission is complete, you'll get your trophy.Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor is a sandbox, fantasy action/adventure game, set within the same world and mythology of The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings series’. It's actually not that bad though as a group of Outcasts will come to help you, and they'll even start untying the slaves for you. The final mission will be a trap where you need to free quite a few slaves from an arena. Finish all the ones you unlock, unlock the next batch, complete those. Simply keep fast traveling and returning to the same spots to unlock the missions. Once you finish that first set of missions, you'll start to see the "Free Slaves" icon appear again. The reason for this is that the missions get harder after that and they want to be sure that you finish the first set before allowing you to unlock the next set. After you've unlocked enough missions (I think twelve or so), you need to complete all of those missions first before the "Free Slaves" icons show up again. Keep in mind that the missions are actually broken up into two groups. The easiest to find is a small group just east of the central tower in the first area. If you find a location with slaves, you'll generally continue to find slaves there provided you fast travel at some point to reload the map. The convenient thing about unlocking this missions is that the slaves that you need to free don't appear randomly. Generally, they aren't particularly hard so much as just tedious. These show up on both maps and indicate the missions that you need to complete to unlock this trophy. This icon is a fist emblem with an outline around it. This indicates a group of slaves that can be freed by killing the Orc slavers.įreeing these slaves creates a new icon on the map. The first icon is just a fist, which shows up on your minimap, but not on your large map (much like herbs). While playing through the game, you may notice two different icons appearing on your map.
